Rating:3.25/5

Story:

The biopic on the popular cricketer MS Dhoni, starts from his journey from being a Ranchi boy, who is willing to hold a bat instead of wicket keeping. Being a middle class guy, Dhoni is forced to take up a job in railway. How Dhoni manages to pull out full time for cricket is narrated in the first half. His love life, captaincy and his rise in the international cricket is narrated in the second half.

Analysis:

The movie takes off with Dhoni making a striking decision during the World Cup final, which is impressive and then shows the flashback where his early stages of career were shown. A middle class family where dad is asking to concentrate on studies rather than cricket, wife going out to buy fish and all such scenes are well narrated.

Involving love life in a sport based story is what makes one stick their eyes to screen. But there are complaints that the movie is away from dealing any controversies in Dhoni’s life like his issues with senior colleagues and also Chennai Superkings and spot fixing debacle. The movie is away from showing Dhoni as a super hero and its just a tell all.

Performance:

Sushant Singh Rajput as Dhoni is the perfect choice for the role. He delivers some promising performance, including the body language as the star cricketer. Anupam Kher as Dhoni’s father is apt. Bhumika Chawla as Dhoni’s sister does a fairly good job and she is true to her simplistic character. Kumud Mishra’s character has huge significance, as his character gives break to Dhoni. He is perfect for the role.

Music of the film has been widely appreciated and Besabriyaan surely sounds lovely in the theaters. Though director Neeraj Pandey is not a fan of Dhoni, he handled the film with utmost brilliance. This proved that, the filmmaker can handle any type of scripts.

Finally:

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is a treat to Dhoni fans and a sure entertainer even for non-fans.
