Story

John Biswas (Amitabh Bachchan), loses his grand-daughter in a kidnap. Unwilling to give up on the case, he tries to pull out the clue if any, from it. After 8 years, in a similar case, another child will be kidnapped, where officer in charge Sarita Sarkar (Vidya Balan) and Father Martin Das (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a former cop, are involved in both the cases.

How John was able to draw out the clue from Sarita and Martin and what are the struggles he took in chasing the mystery? The answers for these questions will form the proceedings of Te3n.

Analysis

Adopted from a Korean thriller ‘Montage’, Te3n was made, with few changes in the plot. The film mainly deals with that thin line between redemption and revenge. The pace is sluggish and the take-off is slow. The tension atmosphere that created in the screenplay, lapses with the unconvincing revelations.

Most of the logics dealt in the film are not acceptable. The outcome of this thriller is too fickle. But one appreciable thing is, the film was brought onto the screen, with the absolute old fashioned, (needed for the script). The trams, the bells of cycle, the quite and died down alleys of the town, makes one travel with the characters on the screen.

Performance

Amitabh Bachchan, once again nailed his performance. An uncompromising grandfather, who does not mind to go any corner, to get the justice for his loving granddaughter is what his character deals. The pain needed in it, was perfectly delivered by Big B.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui as an ex-cop turned Father is decent. But his tone fails in bringing out that catholic touch. Vidya Balan as police officer makes impact, even though the role is short.

Both the songs and background score are impressive and move with the plot. Editing might have been take care of, as there are several scenes that are unnecessarily dragged, and deserves trimming. Director Ribhu Dasgupta though said the film is a thriller, the suspense element is not that interesting and unfortunately it is even predictable.

Finally

Te3n is a thriller on a soft mode. The predictable suspense makes it an average one, but can still be the first choice for this weekend, among other Bollywood films.
