Rating: 2/5

Story:

Rock On 2 starts exactly from where, the first part took its end. After Magik reunites in the last film, the group starts a talent management firm to promote new talent. But due to the negligence of Magik, a young artist commits suicide, due to which, the band part ways.

While Adi (Farhan Akhtar) moves to Meghalaya, working for the welfare of locals, Joe (Arjun Rampal) turns a reality show judge and even owns a bar. On the other hand, KD (Purab Kohli) still hopes for a chance for the band to reconcile. He gets a ray hope when he listens to a recording sent by Uday (Shashank Arora) which has Jiah’s (Shraddha Kapoorr) composition.

Did the band come back to concentrate on music and made it big? Watch Rock On 2 to know the answer.

Analysis:

The script of the sequel itself is highly disappointing. In an attempt to cover the gap of 8 years, between the first and second parts, the maker in an attempt to show the characters matured, ended up showing them immature.

Several emotions, especially in Jiah’s character, appear forceful. The only good point in the film is showing the turning point in Joe’s case. His working on a reality show is convincing. While the makers tried to plan the twist at the pre-interval, it is something the audience could expect in just a few minutes of the first half beginning itself.

Performance:

As the script has nothing to show Farhan as strong, the actor could not perform well. Arjun Rampal is handsome, but performance wise, he is better in the first part. Same with Purab Kohli, who has nothing much to do with the acting in the film. Shraddha Kapoor as Jiah makes the audience, kick their front seat and run out of the theatre, unable to bear the horrifying performance.

Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s music is not that great, except for Usha Uthup’s song. Editing has flaws and dialogues are done to death. Production values are decent. Coming to direction, Shujaat Saudagar hinted the producers, that debut directors should not be given sequels. His direction needs a strong direction, before he attempts for his next movie.

Finally:

You would properly prefer to hit your head with a huge rock, after watching Rock On 2.
