Smartphones can help you deal with medical conditions like depression and anxiety, a new research says.
According to the researchers, from Northwestern University in the U.S., 13 speedy mini-apps called `IntelliCare` significantly reduced 50% depression and anxiety in participants, who used the apps on their smartphones up to 4 times a day using psychotherapy or with antidepressant medication.
The applications offer several exercises to release the stress, reduce self-criticism and worrying, etc. It also shows a few methods to make your life more meaningful, mantras to highlight your strengths, strategies for a good sleep and more.
"We designed these apps, so they fit easily into people`s lives and could be used as simply as apps to find a restaurant or directions. Some of the participants kept using them after the study because they felt that the apps helped them feel better," said lead study author David Mohr from Northwestern University`s Feinberg School of Medicine.
