Story

Suraj (Radeep Hooda), an ex-mix martial arts player does odd jobs to settle his old debts. One fine day he meets Jenny Mathias (Kajal Aggarwal), a visually impaired woman. The duo falls in love and Suraj later realizes that his dark past is connected with Jenny in a shocking manner. Suraj then decides to get Jenny her eye sight back. What is that dark past and how Jenny is related to it, forms the crux.

Analysis

When the title 'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani' has so much of romance in it, unfortunately, the chemistry between the lead couple does not work out and that makes one feel the so called romantic scenes fall flat in the film. The appreciable thing is, the makers made sure, they don’t project much on the pathetic angle on the visually impaired and transformed it into a chirpy role.

Though adopted from the Korean film ‘Always’, the makers failed in delivering he emotion, the original has. Especially few elements like the boss harassing Jenny at work, the brooding hero angle are all done to death. If one can observe, Do Lafzon Ki Kahani has several similarities with Deepika Padukone’s Lafangey Parindey. So one need not watch the same film again, just because the casting is different.

Performance

Randeep Hooda makes his presence felt in several scenes. His act of a mix martial arts player is spot on and he pulls off the action sequences extremely well. Especially the way he adopted to the character that has a disturbed past deserves loud applauses.

It is Kajal Aggarwal who completely disappoints. Though the character is designed in an interesting manner, the image she earned for the earlier films, and her over board chirpiness in the present character, makes one laugh out loud, instead of feeling sorry for her defects in the character. Mamik Singh as Randeep’s trainer does a decent job.  Rest other actors lived up to their expectations.

Director Deepak Tijori, who vanished after the films like Oops, Fared, Tom Dick and Harry, came back with Do Lafzon Ki Kahani. It seems, the luck is still playing hide and seek with this maker. The way he dragged the scenes makes the audience in the theatre, actually look towards the exit doors every now and then.

For a palatable story like this, Kuala Lumpur location is utterly disturbing. Run time is high which the content cannot carry it. Editing might have been better. Music is decent and background scores are ok. Production values are more than required for the content.

Finally

Take out all your favorite romantic and pathetic mixed Bollywood movie CDs from your desk and watch it all the day or if you wish to watch the cocktail version of all such films, Do Lafzon Ki Kahani is available at your nearest theaters.
