Rating: 3.5/5

Story:

Anasuya (Samantha)’s life is dominated by her mother Nadhiya, who fixes her daughter’s marriage with a rich guy. Reluctant to go for it, Anasuya, on suggestion of her father Naresh, leaves to her aunt’s house to get some peace.

It is there she meets, Anand (Nithin) and fall in love. But due to the personal problems Anand had, he will be forced to get married to Naga Valli (Anupama Parameswaran). How Anasuya managed to side line Nagavalli and entered Anand’s life is the rest of the story all about.

Analysis:

Director Trivikram who is known for his sensible dialogues, this time even made the entire film sensible, with several thought provoking dialogues and narrations. The first half of A..Aa has thorough entertainment. The way the songs are shot attracts big time.

However, there are few loopholes in the second half, but are negligible when compared to the feel good narration of the rest of the episodes. Though the story has no uniqueness, it is the screenplay that deserves loud applause. However, the length of the film appears high, which makes one feel the requirement of the trimming and the pace is slow.

On the whole, first half has more entertainment and the second half is filled with motion, flavoring it with soft core comedy in between.

Performance:

Nithin finally has something to do big with the acting too this time. His performance is subtle, which has an every chance to go well with the family audience too. Samantha, has got a full length role. In that sense, the story revolves around her character. Her every single expression as Anasuya, is like tailor made to the character Trivikram dreamt of. She almost dominates most of the proceedings and stands top, in terms of the expressions. Adding to it, her chemistry with the male lead is very convincing.

Anupama Parameswaran is another notable character in the film. Her character, which is to go jealous of Samantha, is written well and also performed well. Rao Ramesh nailed once again. His performance especially in the climax is one of the major highlights of the A..Aa. Naresh as Samantha’s father is extremely well, rest other actors, filled the screen, with the notable performances.

Camera work is what makes A..Aa appear bigger than what it is, with some feel good visuals. The production values are on the top notch. Not to the surprise of many, Trivikram’s dialogues again do all the magic in the film. The freedom Trivikram got for A..Aa, is Nithin, who is away from the star image, unlike the director’s earlier star studded films. That might be the reason, Trivikram told what he thought of, in a brilliant way.

Finally:

A..Aa is a complete family entertainer, made with several sensible emotions. A perfect movie to bid farewell for the summer.
