Rating: 2.5/5

Story:

Dharam (Ranveer Singh), a stand-up comedian, meets Shyra (Vaani Kapoor) and the two hit it off quickly. Their relation soon turns into an emotional baggage. The duo part ways only to meet again and this time, try their hands at being “just friends”.

Meanwhile, Shyra meets Anay, who proposes to her and she is left with the decision of marrying him. On the other hand, Dharam too gets busy with a non-serious relationship. Will Shyra and Dharam get back to each other or move on with their respective marriages is what the rest of the film shows.

Analysis:

Befikre deals with the modern day relationships. When you decide to count the number of kisses between the lead couple, you end up missing the count at some point.

Befikre appeared to be a blend of several super hit movies in the past. The first half is light hearted, revealing Dharam and Shyra’s past and present relationship. We do reminisce a little bit of an Imtiaz Ali film feel here. Giving a picture of the fragile modern day relationships, Chopra even spills the typical YRF romantic flavor in the second half. The plot reminds the audience Love Aaj Kal several times, while watching the film.

Performance:

Ranveer Singh is perfect as the irritatingly childish and shallow Delhi desperado. He overshadows everybody else on the screen. Vaani Kapoor gives a below average performance. Her dialogue delivery is what which further disappoints. But her dance moves are watchable.

Both songs and background score is pretty good. Production values are decent and so is the cinematography. The film, especially in the second half, appears stretched. Aditya Chopra only tried to mix up some romantic movies of YRF and make it a complete film in the form of Befikre.

Finally:

If you are ready to watch a cocktail version of YRF earlier films, Befikre is available in your nearest theatres.
