Rating: 2.5/5

Story:

Dinesh (Vijay Anthony) married to Aishwarya (Arundhati Nair), gets mentally disturbed and hears some weird voices from his brain which ask Dinesh to kill himself. This makes him join in a mental hospital, where he finds out that, he is suffering from a problem which relates to his ancestral past.

What is that problem and did Dinesh comes out of it? The answers for these questions forms the rest of the Bethaludu.

Analysis:

The story line is unique and even it is executed well. The way the suspense is revealed is good. The entire first half is gripping enough.

Coming to the second half, the first 15 minutes is filled with some good moments, but once the suspense gets revealed, the movie loses steam and proceedings move slower. The same feel continues till the end.

Adding to it, the audience expecting to watch some horror elements, as the posters are hinting, would get disappointed as the movie does not contain much horror portion.

Performance:

Vijay Antony lived up to the expectations, showcasing some stunning emotions. He gives his best, especially in the mentally disturbed role. Heroine Arundhati Nair gets a challenging role to showcase her acting skills and she came out with some top notch performance.

Vijay Antony’s background score takes the scene content to the next level and even the songs are good. Dialogues and camera work is neat. The production values are rich enough. The locations, especially the village set up are showcased well.

Director Pradeep came out with some good screenplay in the first half, filling it with enough twists and turns. But he could not balance the same in the second half, which makes the film fall flat.

Finally:

Bethaludu is completely a different game, which would be interesting to only certain sections of the audience who chose to watch different entertainers, unlike regular commercial ones.
