Rating: 2/5

Story:

Shivaay (Ajay Devgn), a mountaineer in Himalayas saves Olga (Erika Kaar) from a deadly avalanche, after which, the duo falls in love and gives birth to a baby. Unwilling to raise the baby, Olga moves back to Bulgaria, her native place.

After 9 years, Gaura (Abigail Eames) learns that her mother is alive and forces Shivaay to take her to Bulgaria. On the way, Gaura gets kidnapped by the child traffickers, from where Shivaay struggle to get back his daughter starts from. The rest of Shivaay is whether father got back his daughter or not.

Analysis:

After a failed debut ‘U Me Aur Hum’ as a director, Ajay Devgn once again came up with another boring directorial Shivaay. Firstly, the movie rips off the basic premiss and then add some unimportant emotional melodrama on father-daughter relations. The chase sequences are prolonged beyond one can watch and tests the patience of the audience.

There are scenes worth tear jerkers, but due to the bad writing, all those go vain. Adding to it, a man who never stepped out of the Himalayas, shutting down a Bulgarian flesh trade racket is not convincing. The supposed to be interested love story, appears quite childish. Even the co-writers Sandeep Srivastava and Robin Bhatt deserves a tight beat for the poor writing skills.

Performance:

Ajay Devgn as Shivaay is almost in every frame of the film. In the midst of back to back actions, he rarely gets any chance to show off his acting skills. Erika Kaar’s Hindi would be a nightmare. Sayyesha’s role is too small and gets unnoticed.

The cinematography is the best thing in Shivaay and even VFX works appear impressive. Coming to music, Bolo Har Har has been used as background score and Darkhast is ear friendly. Production values are great. The run time is lengthy and adding to it, the climax is dragged too far.

Finally:

It would have been better, if even the movie climbed the mountains like Ajay Devgn
