Rating: 2.5/5

Story:

Dhanush is a pantry worker, who finds himself in the midst of officials, trying to save the day by averting a major crisis. His love interest Keerthi Suresh travels on the same train. How the duo overcame the hazardous situation? The answer to this question forms the crux of Rail (Thodari).

Analysis:

The major drawback of the film is the poor story line. While the first half appears ok with some watchable episodes, it is the second half that literally tests the patience. While the movie is already in the news that it deals with the train journey, unless one sits in the theatre, they could not realize that, the journey is too long and is tough to bear.

Performance:

Keeping his mass image aside, Dhanush should be appreciated for picking up a low profile role like this. But his efforts in giving a stupendous performance go vain, as the script lacks the required feeling. Keerthi’s attempt was good, but her expressions could have been more subtle, to present a natural feeling.

Background score suits the mood of the film and Vetrivel Mahendra’s cinematography is perfect. Most of the visuals make the audience feel good. Though the editing is good, the length of the film makes one feel that, few cuts would have made the film better. Camera work is ok and production values are decent.

Director Prabhu Solomon picks a poor script and adding to it, his execution further spoils Rail (Thodari).

Finally:

Rail is not as pleasant as the trailer and a high level of patience is needed to tackle its  journey.
