Story

Nirmal Kumar (Irrfan), a common man kidnaps Home Minister’s son, with the intention of making the government accountable for their corrupt acts, after losing his son in a bridge-collapse mishap. What follows is the Tom and Jerry race between Nirmal and Nachiket Verma (Jimmy Shergil), who is hired by the Home Minister for the case. How far Verma will be successful in tracking Nirmal and finding the kid, is what shows Madaari’s rest.

Analysis

Madaari script is very close to ‘A Wednesday’ film. But the script has several confusion points which makes one land themselves into dilemma, as to what is happening on the screen. The emotions Irfan shows in disguise of a common man against corruption are age old. Story seems very farfetched. There are no engaging edge of the seat thrills in the film, where the audiences expect to watch in the films like this.

Performance

Irfan Khan is no doubt a main pillar of Madaari. His stupendous performance as broken kidnapper goes well with the audience.

Especially he takes the acting boundary to the next level, in the scenes, where he loses his son. Jimmy Shergill as the cop is extremely impressive. Vishesh Bansal as the kidnapped kid appears good on the screen.

The soundtrack is quite good, but as the melodrama is highlighted, it loses the true flavor. Several scenes need to be trimmed, which would have made Madaari better. After the brilliant films like Mumbai Meri Jaan and Dombivali Fast from Nishikant Kamat, Madaari is not the film to be expected from him.

Finally

Madaari script has social cause, but due the lack of proper execution, it fails to witness rush at the ticket window.
