Story:

Kabali (Rajinikanth) is a revolutionary leader fighting for the rights of the migrant Telugu workers in Malaysia. The baddie, Tony Lee (Winston Chao) on whom Kabali was fighting, sends Kabali to prison for 25 years, planning conspiracy.

After coming out of prison, Kabali goes in search of his family and finds that Telugites in Malaysia are facing struggles from Tony Lee. He then decides to kill the baddie, and in this process Kabali who thinks that his wife Kumudhavalli (Radhika Apte) is dead, finds out that she is alive. Did Kabali succeed in hunting the baddie is what answers the rest of Kabali.

Analysis:

When Rajinikanth is said to be an underworld don, generally the immediate concentration of the fans goes to Baasha, expecting several fan moments. Unfortunately, Kabali could not give those. Just after few initial moments, the huge stardom of Rajini takes a back seat, which disappoints the audience big time.

Adding to it, the story moves forward with very slow pace, especially the second half disappoints all sections of the audience. There is absolute no comedy elements, in the movie. As per the scenes, though there are chances to encrypt fun, the director could not balance it properly. But the look of Rajini in ageing mafia don is a treat to the Thalaiva fans, especially the flash back episodes are goosebumps moments to the fans.

Performance:

Rajinikanth is the biggest hope of Kabali and no doubt, his charisma is what made the movie appear bigger than what actually it is. Radhika Apte has got a crucial role in the film and she managed to perform it with utmost dignity. Dhansika is impressive in her role.

Santosh Narayan’s Nippu Ra song goes well in the theaters with the fans, whistling to Rajini’s style moments on the screen. Background score played a very major role in Kabali, raising the fan moments. Cinematography gives a realistic outlook. There are flaws in editing, as several scenes can be trimmed well.

Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu had spent bomb on the film and that can be felt on the screen. Director Pa Ranjith writing skills are brilliant. The way he dealt each scene is dealt intelligently, but the mistake he did is, he mostly concentrated on framing up the movie well, rather than delighting Rajini fans.

Finally:

Kabali will be liked by hardcore fans of Rajinikanth, who want to see super star in in old heroic style.
