Politics on Ganesh idols!
While the Ganesh Chaturthi festival is nearing, the environmentalists in the Telangana state are trying to halt, the huge idols erection, asking to decrease the height of the idol. Though this message is from the environmentalists, one can understand that, even there is government’s interference in it.
It is to be noted that earlier, the Telangana government has decided to construct a pond at Indira Park and thought of allowing the dipping of all the Ganesh idols on Nimajjanam day at that place, complaining the pollution issue at the Tank Bund, where most of the idols in the city come for the immersion on the last day of the festival.
Already the officials were successful in bringing the High Court notice, restricting the idols not to cross 15 feet. Even the prestigious Ganesh of Hyderabad, Khairatabad idol is not an exception for this.
Reportedly, the reason, behind the government’s stressing on the Ganesh idols is, the TRS government is trying to take all the lands around Hussain Sagar and as already announced it will construct skyways, and huge apartments there. But due to the yearly immersion of Ganesh idols, a few complained about the disturbance like pollution and other issues. Taking their complaints into consideration, the government is slowly trying to divert the idols to the yet to be constructed Indira park new pond, and so is combing the Idol makers in Hyderabad, regarding this.
This is now being considered as politics by few, but the others opine that it may even decrease pollution and also the skyways and all at the Tank Bund would be added to the development of Hyderabad. But whatever the case, this is hurting the sentiments of the idol makers, which in turn is expected to show negative impact on the government.
