Just within 83 days of its launch, Reliance Jio has emerged as the largest broadband operator in India, crossing 50 million subscriber mark. Reportedly, Airtel took 12 years to reach the same milestone and Vodafone and Idea 13 years each.

On September 5th, Reliance Jio had commercially launched its services, offering unlimited access to HD voice calls (on Jio eligible VoLTE phones), messaging, video calls, 4G data along with access to Jio's suite of apps till December 31st. Adding to it, Jio had also introduced Aadhaar-based paper-less Jio SIM activation across 3,100 cities and towns in India.

Now, calling it a happy new year offer, Reliance Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani said that, Jio will be free till March 31, 2017. From December 4th, every new Jio user will get the full bouquet of Jio content for free till March 31st next year. All existing users will continue to enjoy unlimited offer till December 31 and will automatically be upgraded to Jio New Year offer, Ambani added.
