From the next academic year, i.e., from 2017-18, the medical seats in the Telangana state, will be filled based on the State ranks to be given by the NEET but not on the ranks of EAMCET. Students in Telangana are now required to write the NEET for getting admissions in the medical colleges.

On the other side, the private medical and dental colleges would be the biggest losers, if NEET becomes the primary exam in the Telugu states, as they are conducting a separate entrance test for admission to 35% of seats under the Rs. 9 lakh fee structure.

There are several allegations on the private colleges, saying that, they are trying to weed out genuine candidates from appearing for the test through various methods thus ensuring that only ‘their’ candidates ultimately gain admission.
