An iconic structure in central Tehran, the Plasco building Iran, engulfed by a fire collapsed as scores of firefighters battled the blaze. As of now, there are no reports to prove if anyone was trapped inside. Even it is not clear whether there were any emergency responders inside the 17 story building.

Earlier, authorities had said that, at least 38 people were injured in the fire at the high-rise building. Before the collapse, the firefighters had been battling the blaze for several hours.

Police had kept out shopkeepers and others wanting to rush back in to collect their valuables. Plasco building was among the first high-rises built in the Iranian capital.
