Barbara Comstock in race for U.S. Congress

Representing the Indian American community in the U.S. Congress, Barbara Jean Burns Comstock is all set to contest in the elections that are scheduled to take place on November 8th. She is a Republican member of the U.S. Congress from Virginia's 10th District.

After winning her first election in 2009 against Democratic incumbent Margaret Vanderhye, Comstock had been a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2010 to 2014. She even has an experience of working for several government agencies which also include chief counsel of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, director of public affairs at the Department of Justice, and as a staffer for Congressman Frank Wolf. 

Adding to it, Comstock is a founding partner and co-principal of public relations and public policy firm Corallo Comstock. After announcing her candidacy in January 2014 for U.S. Congress from Virginia's 10th District, she won the election by 16 points and took office in January 2015. Donald Trump, on March 2016 donated $2700 to Comstock's campaign, which the amount was forwarded to two recuperation centers for wounded veterans in Comstock's congressional district.

In the 2016 election, Comstock will face Democrat LuAnn Bennett, a real estate executive and ex-wife of former Virginia Congressman Jim Moran. The race is expected to be one of the most heavily contested races in the country, as the democratic strategist Ellen Qualls said the 10th District is "essentially the swingiest district in the swingiest state."
