The scholarship enhancement has been ordered by the Telangana government for the minority students pursuing overseas higher education- post graduate and doctoral courses in foreign universities, with retrospective effect since 2015-16.

From the earlier Rs. 10 lakh, the amount of grant under “Chief Minister’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Minorities”, has been raised to Rs.20 lakh, for the benefit of the poor and meritorious students from the minority community.

Through an earlier order, the Government had enhanced the amount under ‘Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi’, for SC students. The government has decided to pay the fee in two instalments. First upon producing landing permit or immigration card and next upon producing first semester results.

Speaking about the issue, Deputy Chief Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali has clarified that, students from minority communities will be eligible for full fee reimbursement irrespective of the rank they got.
