On Sunday night, terrorists fired at and lobbed grenades on Rashtriya Rifles army camp in Baramulla, Kashmir, in which two terrorists and a soldier were killed and another soldier was injured.
The martyred soldier has been identified as Constable Nitin and the injured soldier is Constable Pulwinder. Both are from the 40th battalion of the BSF, officials said.
The gun battle ended mid-morning and search operations were underway, according to the police reports. The last night attack took place exactly fortnight after terrorists attacked the Army brigade headquarters at Uri.
Through an adjoining BSF camp, the terrorists gained entry into the 46 battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles. To locate the terrorists, the skies in Baramulla, saw illuminators, fired by the Army.
Even the intelligence reports have alerted over the last 4 days that there would be possibility of terrorist attacks on the security installations in Jammu and Kashmir after the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes across the LoC in Pakistan on September 29.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, "Colleagues in Baramulla town are phoning with reports of massive gunfire in their vicinity. Prayers for all in the area."
