To prevent the terror attacks like Uri, there should be an introspection and internal security measures should be strengthened, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi opined, stressing that there would be consistency in India’s policy towards Pakistan.
“Whatever happened in Uri, it is known to all that the terrorists came from neighboring country. Our army camp was attacked there. The question that arises is, introspection has also to be done on how it happened and who is responsible and what action government will take,” Owaisi said.
As there are continuous attacks in several places in the country in the recent times like Udhampur, Poonch, Pathankot and now Uri, the need of strengthening internal security is there, he opined.
Owaisi supported the decision of India, skipping the SAARC summit, as the Pakistan government is unable to control terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.
“The trial of 26/11 has been going for years now. We gave evidence on Pathankot but no action was taken (by Pakistan). So the government has taken this policy. We have no objection to that. But keep a consistent policy," he said.
Referring to Modi’s stopover at Lahore last year, on his return from Afghanistan, Owaisi said that, even foreign policy towards Pakistan should be consistent. "What will be our policy towards our neighboring country. Foreign policy doesn't run like we will go if there is a wedding at somebody's house. There is a need for consistent approach," Owaisi said.
