The debates on ‘Special package vs Special status’ is still being heard big time in Andhra Pradesh. While the opposition leaders in AP are strictly against package and are demanding the special status, Union Minister Sujana Chowdary has openly declared that special status is of no use.

But the analysis proves that, TDP leaders were benefiting from Special Status. They have invested in states accorded with Special Status for Tax Incentives. Particularly, most of them have doing their business operations in Uttarakhand.

When Uttarakhand was accorded the Special Status by the then Vajpayee Government, the then newly formed state received benefits like excise duty exception, Central Services Tax (CST) and Income Tax incentives.

List of TDP leaders, who benefited from the Special Status:

- Sujana Chowdary has set up fans manufacturing unit in Uttarakhand. His name appeared as the chairman of the firm in 2006 Annual Report.

- Rajya Sabha MP CM Ramesh has invested Rs 69 lakhs in North Eastern Power Projects in Uttarakhand.

- For setting up a new plant, Amaraja Company, related to Guntur MP Galla Jaydev, purchased lands in Uttaranchal, as stated in the Company’s annual report for the financial year 2009-10.

- Guntur District TDP President & Vinukonda MLA GV Anjaneyulu has established Bioplantec Limited at Rudrapur near Haridwar, Uttarakhand. 

- Even Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy and Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao posses their business interests in Uttarakhand.

- If the buzz is to be believed, even YSRCP Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and BJP leader Kavuri Sambasiva Rao have businesses in Uttarakhand.
