A young man attacked a 21 year old woman on a busy road in Burari, North Delhi and stabbed with a knife till the girl stopped moving. The entire scene was captured by a CCTV nearby.  

34 year old Surendar Singh stalked Karuna, a teacher, several times and harassed her. Though the girl’s family reached out to police in the past, there was no clue as to why no action was taken again him. Although the police claim that, both families had reached a compromise. 

During the attack, several people on the way restricted to glance and stay away. Two persons tried to move towards the woman, but went back, unwilling to take the risk.

After Singh went away from the spot, giving a final kick to Karuna, Manish Kumar, a witness took Karuna to hospital. “I ran and went to help the girl. I called on 100 twice, the police did not come, then I called the ambulance, no one came," he added.

Meanwhile the girl’s family protested outside the hospital. Speaking on the issue, Karuna’s brother said, “The man had been harassing my sister for a long time. He stays in Rohini. We had filed a complaint, after which he had calmed down...until now.”

To the shame of Delhi, this is the 2nd incident from the past 24 hours, in which a woman was killed in public and was offered no help. A 32 year old married woman stabbed to death by her lover, who later committed suicide in southwest Delhi.
