On the occasion of Urjit Patel being nominated as the new governor of Reserve bank, the officials have decided to produce new Rs. 20 currency note.
Among all the denominations of currency, it is Rs. 20 that would be attractive with a different color. But the production of this denomination of this currency has been stopped for quite some time. Now the officials have decided to resume the production of Rs. 20 note and this time, the currency note, even carries Urjit Patel’s signature on it.
Here are the other changes on the new Rs. 20 currency note:
- The numbers will be in ascending size from left to right while the first three alphanumeric characters (prefix) will remain unchanged.
- The intaglio printing of the note is now replaced with offset. This makes the color of the note on the obverse lighter while there would be no change in color at the reverse.
- Adding to it, rectangular identification mark on the left of the banknote has been removed.
- The latent image of Mahatma Gandhi that was visible when the note was held horizontally at eye level, will no longer be present on the new currency.
