Atheists in India negligible
Survey says that only 0.002 per cent of Indians are atheists, detailing that only 33,304 people in the country considered themselves as atheists out of total population of 1.21 billion.
Out of 33304, interestingly,
22828 are from rural
10746 from urban.

The census data is from 2011, before bifurcation of the erstwhile combined Andhra Pradesh state.
