India's NSG membership not on agenda- China
The differences among the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), would remain open, over the inclusion of the new countries and adding to it, the issue was not even on the agenda of the grouping’s meeting in Seoul this week. These statements from China, came as a shock, a day after Sushma Swaraj, the External Affairs Minister, has confidently said that, India would enter into NSG, this year.
Speaking on the issue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, “We have stressed that the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) is still divided about non-NPT countries entry into the NSG and under the current circumstances we hope that NSG will make through discussions to make a decision based on consultation.”
