Actress turned politician Ramya, who was in the news recently, for her comments praising Pakistan, has today said that, she is not going to apologize for what she said.
As part of the SAARC delegation of the young lawmakers, Ramya after visiting Islamabad, had said, “Pakistan is not hell. People there are just like us. They treated us very well.” These comments had referenced to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s comment last week that, “going to Pakistan is like going to hell.”
It is because of that, Ramya was the hot topic on the social media, with the netizens cursing the 33 year old actress severely. Steeping forward, a lawyer even filed a sedition case, which will go to hearing, this Saturday.
Meanwhile, reacting to her comments, “I will not apologise as I have done nothing wrong. I am entitled to my views and that is what democracy is about,” Ramya said, adding that the sedition laws are misused against "anybody and everybody".
"I can say sorry, it is the easiest thing for me, but if I do it in this case, the purpose is lost. Right now I really need to stand up for myself...What I said is harmless...People trying to spread hatred are legal and people who are civil and trying to bring people together are unlawful - such an irony," she added.
