Nandan Nilekani, the co-founder and ex-CEO of Infosys has returned to company on Thursday night after a very long period. He is going to take charge as the Chairman of the company in a short while from now.

R. Seshasayee and Ravi Venkatesan quits their director posts to let Nilekani revamp the board. However, Venkatesan will continue as independent director.

Vishal Sikka, Jeffery S Lehman and John Etchemendy also quit the board for the same reasons.

After joining Infosys, Nelekani speaking to the media said “I am extremely happy to return to Infosys in the role of non-executive chairman. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board and in executive management on the business opportunities we see before us and delivering benefits to our clients, shareholders, employees and communities.”

The speculations about Nilekani returning to Infosys has been triggering the shares of the company since yesterday and now his presence may boost the figures further, which were tumbled after the ugly war broken out between Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and the Board members.

Visal Sikka’s appointment as executive vice-chairman of the company is not formulated yet due to technicalities. Nilekani’s sudden entry into company may show some effect on him also.
