India has been engaged in Afghanistan nation building since a long time, but it never tried to intervene in its internal problems like Taliban attacks. USA has been taking care of such things in the country. 

However, President Trump has been stating that his first priority is America and not the other countries. During election campaigning, once he asked the people why US should pay for the safety and security of other countries at the cost US development. Then, he told the people that if he comes into power he will try to reduce this financial burden imposed on the country and divert the same for development works in the America. 

His government seems to be eying India as the right partner in Afghanistan, because India already is working in Afghanistan and is having good relationship with it for the same reasons. Hence, India is the only country in Asia that can work together with USA in Afghanistan. 

Hence, US seem to be trying to rope-in India into its military operations in Afghanistan with which it may want to reduce its burden.

PM Narendra Modi, who is also keen to improve ties with US and particularly with Trump to get US support to India for rapid development seems to be very promising.

As if to please India, US has been giving serious warnings to Pakistan for providing shelter to terrorists. It took several serious actions against Pakistan after Modi-Trump one-to-one meeting few months ago. 

Whether or not USA is trying to rope-in India into its combat with Talibans in Afghanistan, India seems to gradually aligning with USA for different reasons and purposes. However, India should think twice whether it is wise to join the US combat with Talibans or not as it would be inviting fresh problems to the country from Talibans. As long as India limits itself to Afghanistan development only, there would be no problems.
