If considered necessary, June 11th reportedly will be the date to conduct the elections for the 2 vacant Rajya Sabha seats.
According to the close sources of Telangana Chief Minister KCR, former minister Capt. V. Laxmikantha Rao, KCR’s friend and T-movement leader, would likely occupy one seat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has recently requested CM, to spare one seat for a BJP nominee, one of the seniors among the party leaders said. “It’s true there is talk Mr Modi and the Congress leadership reportedly approached Mr Rao for a seat. But CM garu did not commit. The CM wants to have two TRS members in the Rajya Sabha,” he said.
Other people who are in the list to be considered for Rajya Sabha are, Namaste Telangana daily publisher D. Damodar Rao, TNGOs leader Devi Prasad, government adviser D. Srinivas and special representative in Delhi Dr S. Venugopala Chary.
Retirement of Mr V. Hanumantha Rao (Congress) and Gundu Sudharani (TD, who joined TRS) made the two seats fall vacant.
Generally, the trusted aides of CM and party leaders, will have more chances to get nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Following the tradition, the TRS party reportedly has shortlisted a few of the trusted aides of the party and is expected to announce its final decision shortly.
