Moving a step ahead in ensuring the safety to women, Hyderabad police is now providing Video Conference Facility (VCF), so that the women victims, can produce their statements, without having to step into the courts.

From May 7th, 2016, this facility is in the implementation at the Bharosa centre and is enabling the women victims record their statements, depose evidence during trial and interact with the judge as well via the video conferencing system. 

This innovative idea is ensuring the privacy of the victims and also keeps the women away from the trauma of the public glare. Even through the video conferencing, only the magistrate will be able to see the victim.

“The trials conducted through the VCF are no less than the real trials. The only change is that the victim appears through a visual medium that is connected to another visual medium in the courtroom,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Swati Lakra.

While the victim is required to sign every statement for the questions asked by the court in the normal proceedings, the magistrate will undergo the process, if its in video conferencing.
