Going against the Hyderabad Cricket Association, Mohammad Azharuddin has asked the judiciary to interfere and scrap the recent elections, stating that they were not held in conformity to rules.

Azhar recently applied to contest for HCA’s President post. But the returning officer Rajeev Reddy, rejected his nomination, as the star cricketer had failed in giving an explanation on whether the BCCI ban on him in the wake of the match-fixing scandal was lifted and that he failed to provide adequate proof that he was enrolled as a voter.

Reacting to this issue, Azhar said that, it was unfortunate that when the BCCI was looking to cleanse the sport of unwanted elements, the HCA elections were held which was against the spirit of the Board’s mission. If the Board’s intention is to really cleanse the sport of unwanted elements, then Azharuddin should be the last person in the fray.

He backstabbed the trust of lakhs of his fans and the board, who made him India’s captain, by allegedly fixing the matches. Responding to the allegations, Azhar had then said that he was being targeted because he was from a minority community.
