Telangana Chief Minister KCR is now planning to inject Islamic art gallery in Hyderabad's Salarjung Museum, to make it the first of its kind museum in the country.
Regarding this, the works have been started at the museum and it would be exhibited to the public, by the end of this year. Museum authorities are spending Rs. 4 crores on creating 26,000-sq.ft gallery, which is the first-of-its-kind in the country.
“Only the Victoria Albert Museum, London and the Metropolitan Museum, New York, have such a gallery,” SJM director A Nagender Reddy said.
The museum artifacts are categorized as Indian art, Middle Eastern art, European and Far Eastern collection. “Now we want to present all the Islamic art at one place,” Reddy said.
