Referring to Telangana Chief Minister KCR's interest in increasing the Muslims quota to 12%, AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi asked KCR to exercise caution while doing so, as it may give rise to legal complications and cause Muslims to lose the existing 4% quota.

It is known that, KCR said in the Assembly that the state government would introduce the Muslim reservation bill in the budget session. He made it clear that, the reservation was being extended, keeping in mind the socio-economic conditions of Muslims and not on the basis of religion.

On the other side, BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy severely went against Muslims quota, and termed it as unconstitutional. “The HC had already struck down the 4% quota but the previous government approached the SC, which gave an interim order to implement the quota till the final judgment. The matter is subjudice, so how can the government talk of quotas now?” he said.
