The Union home ministry asked both the Telugu state governments to act in accordance with the AP Reorganization Act, and not bring up historical facts regarding the sharing of assets of AP Bhavan.
Regarding this, the home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi held a meeting with the both the state officials via video conference. Chief secretary S.P. Singh and principal secretary of the finance department K. Rama Krishna Rao attended the meeting on behalf of the Telangana government and chief secretary S.P. Tucker and principal secretary of State Reorganization L. Premachandra Reddy on behalf of the AP government.
Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister KCR had written to the Union home ministry saying that, AP had no right over AP Bhavan, as it historically belonged to Telangana state. Responding to this, the Union home secretary commented that “Telangana state was formed on the basis of the AP Reorganization Act; and if the sharing of the assets of AP Bhavan were to be decided based on historical evidence, then history would have to be dug up on many other matters as well.”
While Mr Singh said that, he would get back to the issue, after discussing with TS CM, Mr. Tucker on the other side, opined that, according to AP reorganization act, AP Bhavan should be shared between the two states and also requested to resolve the issue soon.
