After the deadline to exchange notes came to an end, banks across the country resumed the ATM withdrawal charges. On the similar lines, they also decided to levy the charges on card payments at the petrol bunks.
Protesting against this, the petrol bunk dealers have earlier decided not to accept any card payments from last night. But, now the banks have postponed the decision till 13th of this month. So, even the All India Petroleum Dealers Association Chief Ajay Bansal has announced to hold the protest till 13th and are accepting the card payments as of now.
Banks have informed us to levy the charges from 0.25% to 1% on all the card payments. It is not fair to levy these charges, as we are making the work easier for the users, allowing them to pay through cards. We are not going to compromise, until the banks come down, Bansal said.
Update:
The government finally came down for the petrolum dealers and took back the decision of levying charges on the card payments at the petrol bunks. So even after 13th, all the petrol bunks across the country, will continue to accept payments through debit/ credit cards.
