Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi announced that five states- Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, will go to polls between February 4th and March 8th. The results of all five states will be out on March 11.

The Uttar Pradesh elections will be held in seven phases on February 11, 15, 19, 23, 27 and March 4 and 8.

Simultaneously, even Goa and Punjab elections will be held on February 4. Uttarakhand polls on the other side, will be on February 15, while Manipur in two phases -- March 4th and 8th.

Over 16 crore people are expected to participate in the polls in 5 states, CEC Nasim Zaidi said. 690 seats are at stake, with 23 reserved for SC/ST candidates. 1.85 lakh polling stations will be prepared for the election process.

He further added the publishing dates of electoral rolls, which are as follows:

Goa- January 5 

Manipur- January 12

Punjab- January 5

Uttarakhand- January 10

Uttar Pradesh- January 12

The EC has imposed the Model Code of Conduct in the states with immediate effect, the CEC said.
