A man identified as being in the Below Poverty Line (BPL), has been booked after finding Rs. 17 crores deposits by the Income tax officials.

As the investigation is at a preliminary stage, the officials refused to reveal his details. But they said that he is engaged in small roadside businesses in Hyderabad and he claimed someone else had deposited the money into his account.

With a deposit of Rs.3 crores, in last year September, the account was opened in a nationalized bank in Hyderabad. After obtaining an Internet banking account, the amount was transferred and withdrawn in a phased manner in September itself.

Again after demonetization was announced, cash worth Rs. 14 crores was deposited in the same account in demonetized notes and the same was transferred to other accounts.

Speaking about the case, an IT officer said, "We are focusing on the account which got money from his account. Our teams are identifying the main accused in the case."
