AP bags Guinness for 'largest Kuchipudi dance'
Titled ‘Mahabrinda Natyam’, a Kuchipudi dance performance by 6117 artists organized at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, bagged a Guinness World Record as the 'Largest Kuchipudi Dance'.
The event was the 5th international 'Kuchipudi Natya Sammelan', which started on Friday and was preceded by Kuchipudi conferences, which included lecture demos for the other artistes. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and dancers like Yamini Krishna Murthy, Shobha Naidu and a few others attended the event.
Naidu, speaking at the event, asked the parents to encourage their children to learn Kuchipudi, as that would protect ancient art forms, culture and tradition. Naidu as a token of encouragement, distributed a pension of Rs. 1500 each for all the artistes.
