Tamil Nadu sand mining baron Shekar Reddy had been arrested just a while, for allegedly possessing illegal wealth, worth hundreds of crores.
After the demonetization, the Income Tax department raided the premises of Shekar Reddy and seized the currency notes worth Rs. 131 crores, including Rs 34 crores of new notes and 127 kgs gold.
After conducting the raids on December 11th, and Shekar Reddy was found guilty, he was even expelled as a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Reddy’s firm, JSR Infra Developers is ranked as a Class One Contractor, which facilitates it to take up big infrastructural projects.
Not stopping with Shekar Reddy, the IT department is moving forward with the raids in the houses of several biggies. It even didn’t spare Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao and conducted raids today. As the raids are still continuing in his house, the findings are expected to be out by the end of the day.
