Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is planning for the costliest express roadway in the country and regarding this, he already finalized the plan. The roadway will be constructed between Ananthapur and Amaravati on the stretch of 590 km at the cost of Rs 27,635 crores.

This road will be designed for a speed of 120 kmph with straight alignments, avoiding habitations and locations of archaeological and religious importance. Tunnels and viaducts are proposed to be constructed to negotiate hilly terrains and valley sections.

Under Naidu’s chairmanship, a committee had also been formed to execute the green field project. The proposed project would reduce the existing road length from Anantapur to Amaravati (472 km) by 101 km. Even, Kadapa to Amaravati road length will be reduced from 370 km to 297 km and from Kurnool to Amaravati, from 311 km to 283 km.

Taking 60 kmph into consideration, the travel time will be reduced by 2 hours between Ananthapur and Amaravati, 1.10 hours from Kadapa to Amaravati and 40 minutes in case of Kurnool to Amaravati.
