Rejecting the opposition demand for a CBI probe into Gangster Nayeem’s case, Telangana Chief Minister KCR said that, the leaders who are identified as having links with Nayeem will not be spared, irrespective of the position they hold or the parties they belong to. 

Speaking in the assembly, KCR said that, there is no need of handing over the case to CBI, as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police is doing its job in an impartial manner.

He also listed the activities of Nayeem and his associates in the below manner:

- On August 8th, Nayeem was killed in an encounter by the police, in Shadnagar, near Hyderabad. An AK47, a 9mm pistol and ammunition were recovered.

- Nayeem and his gang had no hindrance from the previous governments, and so committed heinous crimes in Telangana earlier. But its TRS government, which put an end to Nayeem and his gang activities with an iron hand.

 - After Nayeem’s death, people living in fear had a sigh of relief and his victims came out to lodge complaints. 174 cases were booked, 741 witnesses were examined and arrested 124 accused.  

- During the raids on the gang’s hideouts, police seized 21 firearms, 21 cars, 26 motorcycles and Rs.2.95 lakh cash. The state police also seized documents of the properties registered in the name of the family and friends of Nayeem. The registered value properties including over 1,000 acres of land, 27 houses and 1.67 square yard residential plots is estimated to be over Rs 143 crores.

- Nayeem and his gang’s involvement was established in 27 murder cases and it was also  suspected to be involved in 25 other murder cases.

- Police had filed two charge sheets and 15 more charge sheets were ready to be filed.
