Even after knowing that a Hyderabadi youth named Obaid Ur Rehman, is involved in the deadly twin bomb blasts in Dilsukhnagar, his name does not figure in the list of those convicted.
Rehman's involvement is mentioned in a charge sheet filed by the NIA before the Special Judge, NIA, Patiala, New Delhi on July 17, 2013 naming him as accused no. 5.
Allegedly for being a part of an LeT conspiracy to recruit Indian youth for jihad, Rehman and 12 others were arrested in a Bengaluru terror case. All of them were sentenced to 5 years, rigorous imprisonment and were arrested in 2012 and later in the recent September, the youths were pleaded guilty.
As a part of the investigation, NIA arrested 2 people- Imran Khan and Syed Maqbool, in the conspiracy case filed in New Delhi. The NIA learnt of IM's plan to form another module in Hyderabad. Riyaz Bhatkal gave responsibility to Khan and Maqbool, to form the module.
After arriving in Hyderabad, with Rehman’s assistance, they carried out reconnaissance of Begum Bazar, Dilsukhnagar, Lal Darwaza, TV tower at Malakpet and Ranigunj'. The NIA chargesheet in New Delhi states that Maqbool hosted a party at a hotel during May-June 2012. This was attended by Khan, Rehman and a few others.
"The next day Rehman arranged a motorcycle for Khan and Maqbool for the purpose of carrying out the reconnaissance of various places in Hyderabad," the chargesheet said.
The judgment in Dilsukhnagar twin bomb blasts case is scheduled for today. Watch the space for its update.
