Why Centre took Rohit Vemula’s case personally- Pawan Kalyan

A year after the HCU student Rohit Vemula’s suicide, Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan now responded to it, just a while, through his official twitter account.

“There is no doubt that, Rohit Vemula hated BJP like many millions of individuals. But that doesn’t give them a license to harass individuals who doesn’t align or against them and that too when his form of protest was within the ‘democratic means’. This applies to any group or Party not to BJP alone”, Pawan tweeted.

Finding fault with the Centre’s interference in Rohit’s case, Pawan further tweeted, “Even if Rohit Vemula had said something with his university rival groups, Centre could have just seen it as a part of the ongoing students ideological disagreement. And if their rivalry was causing law and order issues, then they could have let the concern authority to enforce the disciplinary measures. But Centre took it personally in this case for reasons unknown.”

Pawan opines that Rohit lacked any support from his group or the government. “So the punishment meted out to Rohith Vemula through suspension & alienation from the campus driven him to suicide and also due to lack of much needed moral support from within his own group made him more vulnerable. May be Rohith Vemula's anger and disappointment stemmed out from the realization of 'non-existent egalitarian society'. A proper student counselling with a humane approach would have saved an intelligent student who was of philosophical in nature,” his tweet read.

Not only BJP, Pawan even jolted the opposition parties, tweeting, “the most tragic part of Rohit Vemula suicide was when Anti-BJP parties were busy trying to gain a political mileage out of it and BJP-its allies were busy proving that ‘Rohith was not a dalit’. But all of them have forgotten to answer, 'How to prevent such young lives from committing suicides in future?..out of despair, disappointment and resentment..”

Hoping for a better environment in the universities of the country, Pawan last tweet was, “I hope for a day 'where our universities will be more known for 'academic excellence' than the 'battlegrounds' for political parties.”
