The Central government has declared that, only banks will accept the old Rs. 500 notes and cannot be used anywhere. The notes can be deposited in banks till December 30th.
Keeping in mind, the struggles, common public face due to the sudden announcement of demonetization, the government allowed the usage of old Rs. 500 notes at hospitals, medical shops, and also to pay water and electricity bills. But his facility will be dropped from the midnight of Thursday.
The Reserve Bank of India has said that banks have received Rs. 12.44 lakh crores in old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes till December 10th. It also said that banks have so far issued Rs. 4.61 lakh crores in new currency to people over the counter and through ATMs.
