Amidst of the demonetization, to increase the circulation of small currency, it is known that, earlier the Reserve Bank of India has decided to bring back Rs. 1, Rs. 5 and also new Rs. 20 notes. Adding to it, the apex bank has now decided to soon release new Rs. 100 denomination banknotes in the market.
According to the RBI’s official statement, these banknotes will be released in Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, without inset letter in both the numbering panels, similar in design with the existing Rs 100 notes with the ascending size of numerals in the number panels but without bleed lines and with enlarged identification mark.
The old Rs. 100 notes will continue to be legal tender, the top bank’s statement further read, relaxing the normal public who speculated that, even old Rs. 100 notes would get demonetized.
