To encourage the cashless transactions, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched a mobile app called  ‘AP Purse’.

Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said that, 13 mobile banking and 10 mobile wallets were available in the purse which could be used to pay bills. He stressed the need of the cashless transactions.

To boost such transactions, the AP government is also introducing "Marpu Nestam", an agent to educate the people on digital financial literacy. The agent will be paid incentives for training the people in digital financial literacy. Engineering students would be encouraged to train people and it would help them to earn while learning, Naidu added.

Initially, the app offered only English language interface, but the developers at the Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited were quick to add Telugu too in the updated version. Net banking apps of SBI, PNB, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of India, IDBI and UBI are listed on the government’s app alongside the 10 e-wallets of private companies.
