Apart from her political schemes and public service, there are several other things, most of the public are unaware of.

Here are six things you may not have known about the iconic leader:

1. Jayalalitha, initially wanted to be a lawyer, not a politician.

2. Jayalalitha had a crush on former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

3. She figures in the Guinness Book of World Records for hosting the “largest wedding banquet/reception”. In 1995, in her first term as CM, she organised a massive and lavish wedding for her foster son Sudhakaran. Over 1,50,000 guests were invited at a 50-acre ground in Chennai.

4. Jayalalithaa always carried books with her, whenever she travelled.

5. She even acted in a few of Hindi films, including Izzat opposite Dharmendra.

6. In 1997, Jayalalithaa took a pledge to not wear any jewellery. She stayed true to it for the next 14 years.
