Demonetization: Hyderabad tops in the country
Right after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetization, using the situation at its best, Telangana government permitted the people to use the old notes for paying the utility bills. This made the people in Hyderabad, rush to the GHMC and pay the bills.
Reportedly, by Tuesday, Rs. 1722 crores have been received in the form of taxes, which can be nowhere compared to the last year’s collection, that stood at just Rs. 489 crores. This made the Telangana government overcome the fall in revenue to some extent.
With 2500 per cent revenue increase, Hyderabad stood on the top and Delhi Municipal Corporation occupied the second position with 2434 per cent revenue. Surat Municipal Corporation in Gujarat is in the third position with 2,314 per cent.
