It was in the news that several marriages that are scheduled, have got postponed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetization on November 8th. But that could not be a stop to a couple in Madhya Pradesh to enter wedlock.
Ashis Vasisth and Saloni Sidana, the IAS couple, of 2004 batch, got married with just Rs. 500, which they spent on the marriage registration fee. The presiding officer at the additional district magistrate court, Bhind, in Madhya Pradesh, declared the couple as man and wife.
Mr Vashisth is posted in Gohad in MP as sub-divisional magistrate and Salone Sidana, currently serving as SDM, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
Every year, some crores of rupees are being spent on the marriages and other celebrations. But if people in the country follow this IAS couple, at least till December 31st, it would be helpful for the government, who is finding tough to distribute valid currency to everyone.
