Overwhelmed over the support, TRS MP Kavitha is offering Khanapur, the villagers have decided to rename the village after her name.

Reportedly, the village has passed a revolution in this regard, a few days ago, by the Khanapur gram panchayat as an act of reverence towards Kavitha for rescuing them during the time when they were displaced by the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) reservoir on Godavari river.

Explaining about Kavitha’s support towards Khanapur, the villagers said that, 274 houses in the village were submerged under the SRSP waters, but due to lady MP’s  support, they were rehabilitated to a place a few kms away from their village and also a new piece of land is allotted to rebuild the village.

It is because of this, the villagers would now call the village Kavithapuram, even before the notification from the government in this regard, is yet to come.
